This program
was created by the Anti-Drug
Abuse Act of 1988. The
intent of this formula grant
program is to provide funds
to assist State and local
units of government in
carrying out specific
programs that offer a high
probability of improving the
functioning of the criminal
justice system, and to
enhance drug control
efforts. The program
direction has drawn from the
specific focus of drug
control and expanded to
include violent crimes.
Funding is based on State
population. This is an
ongoing grant program. JAG
no longer requires a funding
match. The following

This program
was created by the
Bulletproof Vest Partnership
Grant Act of 1998 to assist
law enforcement agencies
with funding of bulletproof
vests. Cities and counties
apply for direct funding.
Since the program's
inception, OCJA has been
awarded $79,736 for purchase
of vests for state agencies.

the Northern Nevada
Correctional Center and the
"OASIS" program at Indian
Springs.

In 1997/98,
an award was granted to the
Administrative Office of the
Courts to implement a
Multi-County Integrated
Criminal Justice Information
system. Nevada continues to
be the Administrative Office
of the Court's Multi-County
Integration Project and to
fund the Division of Public
Safety Information
Technology to improve public
and criminal justice
agencies access to criminal
history information,
including sex offender
registration.

Assistance was selected for
administration of the

The Office of
Criminal Justice Assistance
works with the Nevada State
Board of Pharmacy in
administering the Drug
Diversion grant program.
With the assistance of this
grant award the Pharmacy
Board has been able to
enhance their prescription
drug monitoring program
throughout Nevada. For

Office (SMART) - Office of
Justice Programs
SMART office Support for
Adam Walsh Act
Implementation Grant Program
provides funding to assist
state and local
jurisdictions and tribes
with implementation of
requirements under the Adam
Walsh Child Protection
Safety Act (AWA) of 1996.
This act is designed to
protect children from sexual
exploitation and violent
crime, prevent child abuse
and child pornography,
promote Internet safety, and
honor the memory of Adam
Walsh and other child crime
victims.
In 2008, Nevada received
$300,000 to assist with the
implementation of the AWA in
developing and enhancing the
Nevada sex offender
registration program.
Community Oriented Policing
Services (COPS)
Methamphetamine Initiative -
This initiative was
appropriated by a 2008
Methamphetamine Initiative
grant to the Nevada
Department of Public Safety
while being sponsored by
Congressman Dean Heller.
The Nevada Department of
Public Safety, Office of
Criminal Justice Assistance
(OCJA), will administer and
evaluate the COPS Meth
Initiative grant.
The initiative seeks to
address the growing problem
of meth abuse by assisting
localities in collaboration
with other service providers
and stakeholders.
Specified Northern Nevada
law enforcement agencies
only are eligible for this
grant.
