The 1033
Program enables Law Enforcement Agencies
(LEA's) with apprehension and arrest
authority to screen and obtain excess
property from the Department of Defense
(DoD). Any LEA who is certified
into this program must agree to hold the
U.S. Government harmless, account for
property obtained at all times, and dispose
of the property in accordance with the
policies, rules, and procedures outlined by
the Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO).
Screening for equipment available through
this program is conducted on-line.
Authorized screeners can search the LESO's
website for equipment that is available
worldwide. The only costs involved
with acquiring equipment obtained are
pick-up or shipping costs.
To apply for
certification to participate in the 1033
Program your agency must submit a written
letter of request to the Office of Criminal Justice
Assistance (OCJA) for inclusion. You
agency must also sign an Interlocal
Agreement with the OCJA to participate in
the program.
